“Neo-Industrial Alternative Metal forged in tragedy, reborn with purpose, and engineered to confront the collapse”
The Android Meme craft a heavy and melodic cinematic form of neo-industrial alt-metal, rooted in grinding riffs, dystopian themes, and deep emotional weight. Based in Toronto, Canada, the band includes Stefano S. Amelio (vocals), Mathias A. Rodriguez (guitar), Vicky Blue (bass), and Jake Hamilton (drums).
Their 2008 debut EP—produced by Rob Sanzo (Danko Jones, Voivod) and mastered by Roger Lian (Pantera, Soundgarden)—quickly established the of their darker edge. The heavier direction led to their 2011 full-length LP Ordo Ab Chao, released through the legendary prog rock label Magna Carta Records and produced and engineered by Matthew Von Wagner (Crystal Castles, USS). The album received critical praise across Europe, with tours and expansion in sight.
However, just before a European tour, their new manager was diagnosed with a terminal disease. The tour was canceled, tensions grew with the label, and by 2012 the band was released and subsequently dissolved until a short resurgence in 2018 where new songs were being written and recorded until tragedy struck again with the unexpected passing of producer/engineer Matthew Von Wagner.
At the tail end of the recent Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns in 2021, Stefano, Mathias, and Jake resurrected The Android Meme—crediting the lockdowns and pandemic as a inspirational catalyst to rekindle their creative spark—. “Looking Glass” was the first of the new recordings and shortly after its release, their former Producer and engineer Matthew Von Wagner's lost hard drives were discovered, containing the demo's of 2018 were and plans to rework and release these older tracks with new material became the impetus for the release of their 2023 EP Crossing The Rubicon, mixed by Brett Carruthers (The Birthday Massacre, A Primitive Evolution). By January 2024, the new EP was released on special edition Red Vinyl and on CD.
2024 saw The Android Meme release of their most popular and highest streaming single to date called “Verbum Vincet”—considered their most defining song both lyrically and sonically, and part of the forthcoming LP entitled PSYWAR— The song is an anthem of free speech and taking action to stand up against tyranny and injustice.
As 2025 begins, The Android Meme forges on set to release a new concept album entitled PSYWAR, to be released as 3 EPs on streaming services and eventually combining as 1 full-length LP. With new singles “DEEP STATE DADDY” and the highly acclaimed cover of Matthew Good Band's 90s hit “EVERYTHING IS AUTOMATIC”, The Android Meme are poised to expand their footprint and make an indelible mark in the new music industry
